China Just Performed the World's First Implant of a Commercial Brain Computer Interface China's rapid advancements in brain computer interfaces (BCIs) have sent shockwaves through the tech and medical communities.

The country claims a major breakthrough this week with the successful implantation of a commercial BCI in a patient's brain by neurotechnology firm Neuracle.

The device, called Neural Electronic Opportunity (NEO), is roughly the size of a coin and contains eight electrodes that record electrical signals between neurons in the brain's sensorimotor cortex.
