Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Jalapeños at Chipotle and Qdoba Expands to 27 States A salmonella outbreak linked to contaminated jalapeños has infected over 340 people across 27 states, including 36 hospitalizations.
The tainted peppers were sourced from Mexico by California based Coast Citrus Distributors. As a precautionary measure, both Chipotle and Qdoba have removed their jalapeño offerings from menus.
The timing of this outbreak coincides with the cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to lettuce at Taco Bell, which has already claimed over 22,000 confirmed or suspected cases, including more than 500 hospitalizations.
